Common guidelines for C.11.5.2.5 - C.11.5.2.17 to enhance the testability
As described in the attached discussion document about the testability of clauses 11.5.2.X, @rodriguezasc and @puskar made an initial proposal to add 4 guidelines to clauses C.11.5.2.5-C.11.5.2.17 (pages 172-175 of EN 301 549 V.3.2.1) to enhance the testability of the respective requirements (i.e., requirements 11.5.2.5-11.5.2.17). In a March 13, 2024, STF meeting, it appeared that the proposal was generally acceptable.
Thus, @rodriguezasc and @puskar will propose to include the guidelines in EN 301 549 clauses C.11.5.2.5-C.11.5.2.17, as described below:
- To create between sections "Type of assessment" and "Pre-conditions" a new section, "Inspection tool".
- To populate the section with the subsequent text:
- Use the platform tool for accessibility inspection.
- Either if the latter is not available or isn’t useful to test this requirement, use platform assistive technologies.
- If the latter is not available, use available assistive technologies.
- To create a section for notes below the "Result" section to include the subsequent text (as clause C.11.5.2.9 already contains a section with one note, it is necessary only to add the new notes proposed here in it):
NOTE: Platform tools are resources provided to ICT developers by the organisation producing the platform. Some platform tools may include the function of inspecting the accessibility of ICTs developed for that platform. Some platform tools may be available to developers but not to 3rd party accessibility evaluators.
NOTE: Platform assistive technologies are assistive technologies that are part of the platform. In the context of the present clause, operating systems are popular examples of platforms.
NOTE: Examples of assistive technologies (either platform or non-platform) to test the present clause are, but not limited to, screen reader and voice control.
