Odd device types
Can we do anything about devices such as this one?
This type of parking meter has a screen, and an alphabetic keyboard, and indeed a voice communication capability (to customer support). The keyboard is used to enter a car numberplate. It would seem to be closed functionality.
Under our current requirements, it seems to me as if this device type could be required to support RTT on the customer support calls, and I really doubt it would be possible to add that capability to such a limited device. There are thousands of these things out there, they have to be tough so are relatively expensive, and I suspect we would face a backlash from local government if they were faced with the bill for replacing them to add RTT.
Just a thought.
