Description
The Optical component is introduced in this project into the TeraFlow architecture, providing functionalities of resource allocation, i.e. routing and spectrum assignment (RSA) and the definition of devices to be configured together with their configurations. In particular, considering the advanced FLEX-SCALE data plane, the RSA problem is generalized into routing, space, band, modulation format, and spectrum assignment (FLEX-RSA). The output of FLEX-RSA is then translated into the devices to be configured (e.g., nodes and transceivers) together with their proper configuration parameters values. The latter information is then propagated to the SBI. When triggered for recovery purposes, the Optical component performs re-routing or transmission parameter adaptations (e.g., change of modulation format). The Optical component (together with SBI) managing both spectral and space dimensions is fundamental for the optical service provisioning.
Demo or definition of done
This component is responsible for the routing and spectrum assignment (RSA) and the definition of devices to be configured (both Transceivers and Multi-Granular Optical Nodes) to deploy an optical connectivity. The component has been adopted for the OFC2024 paper "TeraFlowSDN controlling SDM and wideband optical networks" that will be presented in March 2024 [Ref-1].
