Remove Clause 6.1.1 Due to Misalignment with EAA Scope
REFERENCE: Clause 6.1.1 and Table ZB.5
Clause 6.1.1 on Voice Communication Interoperability addresses basic telephony or telecommunications functionality, not accessibility. As such, it falls outside the intended scope of EN 301 549, which focuses on accessibility requirements. Furthermore, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) does not regulate voice communication itself. Instead, it only requires “providing real time text in addition to voice communication” and “providing total conversation where video is provided in addition to voice communication.” Therefore, we disagree with Table ZB.5 that conforming to Clause 6.1.1 is essential for EAA compliance.
PROPOSED CHANGE
Remove Clause 6.1.1 from EN 301 549.
