5.5.1 Means of operation - meaning of operable parts
5.5.1 says:
Where ICT has operable parts that require grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist to operate, an accessible alternative means of operation that does not require these actions shall be provided.
Some people take the term 'pinching' to apply also to complex touch screen gestures such as "pich to zoom". In the context of the phrase "grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist to operate", it seems more likely to refer to the operation of physical controls rather than virtual controls (such as a map responding to a complex pinch gesture). Is this the correct view, or should 'operable parts' be understood to include both physical and virtual controls? In the context of app tests, the latter option would mean that a pinch gesture without alternative single pointer activation is then recorded in both 11.2.5.1 and 5.5.1.
